In Disney’s Aladdin, Jafar says, “tell me more about myself.”
As someone who doesn’t like to talk about himself much, that’s how I often feel about these “About” pages. Frankly, I’m more interested in you, your organization and your goals.
How Can I Help You Reach Your Audience?
With a sales and marketing career that spans 20+ years, I have a good idea of what works and what doesn’t. Yes, marketing has changed a lot in that time, but certain things haven’t. Like, how we connect with people. We have more tools to do so (email, mobile devices, etc…) but what people want from their relationships, especially with businesses and organizations, really hasn’t.
And building connections has been the sum of my career. You see, I began selling consumer products. Then, I started working for McGunn Safe Company, selling and marketing safes. (In my time with the company, I even drafted the design for a couple safe models too.)
Starting in 2003, I began work for one of Canon’s business divisions. During that time, I was recognized as a consistent top performer, earned 2nd place nationally in a presentation competition, and – more importantly – discovered my writing was a huge contributor to my sales success. This prompted me to study copywriting with AWAI.
I stayed with technology sales though, moving over to a Xerox subsidiary. (There’s a lot of movement like that in the biztech industry.) More importantly, during that time I had the opportunity to study with Clayton Makepeace and Bob Bly. Talk about unforgettable training.
In 2013, I began writing for clients. I went full-time in 2015. Since then, my writing has contributed to millions and millions and millions of dollars in revenue for my clients.
Do you have a copy project that needs doing? Maybe it’s time we talked.
What Do I Do in My Free Time?
I’m happily married with four children. I don’t have free time. Even so, I find time to coach my children’s soccer teams, teach Chen-style T’ai Chi Chuan, participate in my church, rehab old houses (long story), read and write for my own personal projects.
